The Future of Transatlantic Alliance: Global and Regional Security

The beginning of the post-Cold War era and emergence unipolar world with USA as sole hegemon in system led to a debate about transatlantic alliance between Europe. Would survive annihilation common enemy? Although is not lively it was 30 years ago, same question arises frequently almost after every major international event. Can we give definitive answer question? If not, why? This paper first contextualizes main camps reference three criteria uncover root causes divergence among analysts: scope observed change, theoretical lenses, level analysis. I argue that scholars disagree over answers because meaning they attribute systemic change IR, preferred theory then focuses more on global regional security implications repeated crises. How would prolonged rift affect Europe globe? It argues future less interesting than either side extreme predictions total or full community.
